Trim pump question

I have my trim pump motor out as it would work only after tapping on it, all the solenoids check out fine.

I am figuring the brushes need to be replaced. Is there anything else that may cause this or should I be good if I tear it down clean up the armature and replace the brushes and springs?

Thanks

Re: Trim pump question

Neither of the trim pumps on my 87' Sea Ray worked when I bought it. Turned out the commutator had oxidized from sitting up. All the brushes were fine, very little wear on them. Polished the comms and they've both been working like new for the past year.

Re: Trim pump question

Thanks 45

I may take a look tonight, the guy I use for Elec motor stuff I can't get it to him untill Friday but I was hoping to get out this weekend. He has to see it as they have to match brushes or cut a set for it if needed, hopefully it just needs a clean up.
