I have a 2000 merc. 40 hp 2-strokeand would like to know which wire at the ignition is for the choke. I would liketo put a seperate switch in for this circut. The kids keep flooding the motor by pushing in the key when turning. The motor only needs to be choked once in spring when it comes out of storage. If anyone has a different idea to this ,please feel free to contact me. Thank-You !!

Re: Electric choke

Gee, why not educate them? It beats the heck out of your plan.

BTW - The motor should need choking each cold start. Choke is yellow/black (I think)

Re: Electric choke

Where do you find one of them there Mercs that only has to be choked once a year? I'd pay up for one.;) Seriously though, I'm with '56. That sounds like a lot more trouble than just teaching the kiddos not to overchoke. Welcome to iboats! Where ya from?
