91 merc classic 40 problems

i have a 91 merc classic 40 that runs great but earlier i was tilting the motor down with the tilt trim buttons on the side of the motor,,going down i saw some smoke coming out of the dyna float suspension cover???so i removed the cover and saw that there was a wire connecting bolt to bolt and when i went down some more it smoked agian??????any help

Is it a ground wire? Did you check to see if the connection was secure?

man i have no clue,,,it was a wire that had no plastic insulation,just looked like a bare wire,,,i took the boat out this weekend and everything was fine all electronic works,and runs great ,,,i dunno??
