Is it possible to convert my 1965 Johnson Seahorse 33HP to a Tiller controled motor. My boat does not have a steering wheel mechanism so I need to install a tiller. Is this possible? How hard is it to do? And how expensive is it? Thanks!

Yes, you can do this. I did it with my '67 33hp and it works great. You just need to take off the throttle lever up front and the plate and replace it with the tiller handle.

I got mine for $75 off a guy from aomci.org classifieds. I believe they go for $125 at twin city outboards and they seem to have the handle in stock. I haven't seen the tiller handle on ebay.

Thanks for the reply, Chief Happy Memorial Day, and thanks for your service!

I was a little worried I bought the motor for a pretty decent price and the guy said it can be done but I just wanted to make sure. So is there any wiring involved or is it simply installing the tiller arm?
