Pressure tank fuel line size

Hi all,

This weekend I want to replace the fuel lines from the pressure tank to the connector, and then under the cowl from the engine side connector to the carb. I need to know what diameter hose it is. Is it all 5/32?

I plan to use regular automotive store stuff and zip tie it together to get the double hose. The goal is alcohol resistant stuff as I am also rebuilding the carb. The motor is out at the cottage, so I can't just go look.

I am wondering if an auto store will have 5/32, if that is the size. If not, will one of the more common 1/4" or 3/8" hose fit with either enough force, or some hose clamps?

The motor is a 1959 Johnson 18HP.

Get the smaller ID stuff (5/32"). Using 1/4-inch with torqued down clamps will create weak spots in the hose.

I just replaced my two line pressure tank gas and air hose for my 1956 10HP Johnson with original tank when I moved the fuel tank. Mine used 3/16" hose. I used the squeeze type pressure clamps and everything works fine. Can't say positively what is under your cowl as I didn't replace that. I even went out to look and double check. Mine is 3/16.

Does anyone know if an auto parts place will carry 5/32? I can't believe how small that is. That is just over an eighth inch. Can someone else confirm that this is correct for my motor (18HP)?

The parts list for your motor doesn't list fuel line sizes but the clamps for the tank line fittings and clamps for the carb hose are the same part number so I would assume the hose is the same size. CAN"T guarantee that though.
