Hi-
I have a 1985 Bayliner Capri 1950 with a Volvo Penta AQ125B... with an I/O sterndrive. This was an unmaintained boat until I got my hands on it last year, and I'm working down a list of issues...
The problem I'm trying to address is mainly this: When starting cold, I can usually get it to turn over and catch to idle fairly quickly.
However, when I try to give it gas, either in neutral or in gear, it stalls out. THis will continue until the engine is pretty warmed up, then it will run smoothly and normally.
The only other symptom is occaisional run on, after I've taken the key out.
Here's what I've done recently (although the problem existed the whole time I've had the boat):
New distrib cap
new rotor
new plugs
new points
new coil (don't leave the key in the on position for a week.)
Is this maybe a carb problem???? I don't want to steer the answer, just feels like a carb problem to this non-expert...
Any thoughts welcome. THanks
