OMC 3.8 valve cover automotive equivalent ?

Hello, 1984 OMC 3.8 valve covers rusting through. OMC marine valve covers $$180.00$$ each! I tried 1984 Buick 331 gaskets, holes don't line up. I tried 1984 Chevy 229 gaskets, holes don't line up. My holes are directly acroos from each other, measure L 8-13/16 W 4-3/16.
Are there automotive valve covers that will bolt on????

then those weren't chevy 229 gaskets.

The Chev 229 valve covers are painted black. the OMC are painted blue. That's the only difference.

Chief Howard, let me clarify your concise answer. I have a 229?
The gaskets I ordered were for 1984 Monte Carlo/ El Camino 229. The 331
gskts were for '84 Buick.

and they sent you the wrong ones if they didn't fit your heads

The 3.8L Buick motor is 231 CI not 331.

and both the 229 and 231 were found in 1981-1984 Chevrolets.
The 231 became a GM corporate engine in that era. 231 was to be California emission, but other states got lots of 231 powered chevs too.
