I'm looking for a website (like Mapquest) that will map out directions for me towing a wide load. Is there any such sites? Is there a special map I can buy and kep in in my truck?

The boat is 10.5 Wide..

Thank you.

I understand a wide load (10.5 wide or greater) you need to take certain roads.

You need to check just before you go. Routes change all the time.

Your state should have a website that will show just about all of the info you need, plus there is another site that lists the routes and requirements for each state.

The routes do change frequently, daily sometimes depending on the size of the load.

your routes will be given to you by the agencies who issue your permits, they will also be able inform you of any escort (won't be likely with such a small load) and lighting/flagging requirements.... As far as mapping your end of that is height. Rand McNally motor carriers road atlas available in most truck stops will list low clearance and if you are over legal height then that will have to be permitted and routed as well..... Unless you intend to bootleg it .... in that case all bets are off but the atlas will still tell you of low clearance.... example there is a bridge over the ohio river in wheeling wv with only 8' overhead clearance.... there are many other such low clearances listed all over the country.

I found that it was far easier to use a permit service than to deal directly with the state. They charge a bit more, but they do this all day long and can tell you which roads are best if you're unfamiliar. The states I had to get permits from had AWFUL websites which were nearly impossible to use.
