Hi everyone, this is my first post on here. I am replacing my exhaust manifolds and risers and was wondering if I should put perfect seal on the riser gaskets, the manifolds and risers, gaskets are all glm after market. Also wondering if I should put some on the seals to mount the outdrive.

This is on a 1989 alpha one with a gm 305 engine, any advise is really appreciated.

I've been using perfect seal for over 15 years and have never had a problem.Make sure your sealing surfaces are clean and not coroded

Someone with more knowledge will probably chime in, but I know some riser gaskets are supposed to be put on dry. Check the OEM service manual to see what they recommend.

If you are talking about the outdrive mounting gaskets, there is a silicone seal on the gasket, so do not use sealant there. Sealant would make it extremely difficult to remove the outdrive in the future. For the other gaskets, the manual should tell you where to use the perfect seal.

Exhaust goes on dry. Torque to spec - don't guess.

Forgot to say welcome aboard.

Also, if you head yp to the "adults only" section you can download the factory manuals for your engine and drive.
