Is it worthwhile to replace rings?

I have purchased a 1992 Johnson 60hp with manual tilt and want to strip it down and repaint the bodywork and engine casing.(Seen some engines in white and others in black?????)

Will it be worth it to replace the piston rings and skim the head while the engine is out of its housing.I want to anyways replace all base and exhaust gaskets.

Any comments or suggestions?

since you have it apart to make it look pretty, i would. its only 18 years old but you will be adding another 18 on top of what you might get if you dont change em.

if you are going that far, just rebuild it.
