Disconnected steering cables and motor swivel is locked and won't turn. Am I missing something. Did I lock it somehow? Was fine. Does it need to be lubed? There's a screw with a spring on one side and nipple in the other side. She's running great and now the swivel is locked. Please help!!

And just how long ago was it that it worked fine?? Those motors very often siezed up in the steering swivel. It is caused by corrosion build-up around the outside of the upper swivel liner bearing. That buildup happens over a period of many months, not just overnite.

The only cure is to take it apart and clean the corrosion out. It is way too late for grease.

I've taken it all apart down to the pivot shaft and swivel bracket. I thought the rust would be where the shaft and bracket meet but those are separated about a 1/16th and the washer is movable. How do I get the pivot shaft out of the swivel bracket? it won't budge. Would the old grease get that solid?
