i Have a 1957 Evinrude Big Twin 35 that I am trying to fully rebuild from the prop to cowling. I want to eventually get both just to have, but which one would be more helpful for the rebuild. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Re: owner's or service manual?

How experienced are you on outboards in general? OEM service manuals are better, but they are written for the dealer's service shop and assume the dealer mechanic has some general basic knowledge. (He shouldn't be working there if he doesn't). The Seloc #1300 manual sold here at iboats is better for the beginner. It has a lot of basic stuff in it that you won't find in the OEM manual. It also has a few errors. Your choice.

I am a true novice at outboard service and repair. This is my first one ever. I do have a little basic knowledge on diesel engines but that's about it!!
