Re: solenoid primer idle

99 % contaminated carbs. since it has 1 carb per cylinder, when the carbs are not working properly, the cylinders are not getting proper lubrication. do not run it until you get this sorted out. it is very easy to blow an engine, like this.

they told you wrong, you need to remove the carbs, disassemble, soak in a cleaner solution ,spray out with compressed air,.Thats the best way,if yours are not too bad,you might get away with buying a can of omc engine tuner, spray throuh all the passages in the carb while apart, then get a spray can of carb cleaner, using it as the compressed air (since not everyone has access to comp.air)blow through all the passages, and reassemble, there are too many passages to get clean,.You friend might be talking about changing the shrader valve on the primer assy.to accomadate fogging fluid ,which is used during storage, and spraying a cleaner through the system,I have heard people do it,but most often its nt thorough ,involving time, spraying anything into the throat of the carb ,only sends the fluid into the intake, nothing for carb,AND spraying anything but fogging oil or premixed fuel can cause damage
