I need more hp than it has, but I hate to get rid of it because it is so dang reliable. I was looking to find some info on changing it to maybe a 15 hp if possible. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Theorically can update to a 9.8 HP model, should change Main Nozzle, Main Jet, Slow Jet, Spark Plugs, & readjust Advance Timming for 9.8 model mentioned parts & timming. Both 8 & 9.8 are 169 CC engines. 9.9 & 15 HP are not compatible,
No, is the answer to your question. The engine cannot be increased in hp without spending $600 or more for parts(block, head, etc) and even then you will only be able to make it into a 9.8.
