Trolling Motor continuous run

I recently purchased a Minn Kota Edge 55/45 foot control. I finally got it mounted on the boat and was trying it out and noticed something differant. On the momentary setting it only powers on when you push the foot button and off again when you release, which is normal. When on continuous it runs non stop. I had an older Minn Kota years ago that on continuous if you press the foot button it turned it on and off with each press. With this 55/45 it stays running unless you flip the switch to off. Have they changed the way they used to work? The owners manual is very scarse on info but I think that is how it is supposed to work.

That is iundeed how they are supposed to work. Continuous means just that. Momentary means on/off with the foot switch. They all work that way.

If you had to step on the pedal regardless whether the switch in MOMENTARY or CONTINUOUS, that would mean the CONTINUOUS mode would not be needed would it not??? You have a very normal and proper motor.
