I have purchased a 1997 Stratos 295 Pro Elite in like new condition.
The boat is flawless! Anyway, I have been told by a few guys here that I should disconnect the oil injection system as it is 13 years old, and that I should just mix the oil in the gas.

First I do not know the wiring schematic, I have been trying to find out more on this boat and motor, like a manual or something. Anyway, if anyone knows how I should disconnect the unit, please reply to this post. Should I really disconnect it or not? It seems to work fine, I don't know what to do here.

Also, this is my first post here, great forum!

Have a great day,
Kyp

Re: 200 Venom Need assistance

I would leave the oil system alone and rebuild the carbs. The oiling system is very reliable and at 13 years old that Johnson is just passing the breakin.

Ensure you have fuel/water separating filters with fresh elements and make sure your alarms are all operable. Your more likely to burn a piston by a lean carburator than from the oil pump failing.

Good maintenance is key. Thats what bad weather is for :)

The maintenance is up to date as well as the carbs being rebuilt.
The engine was decarbonized last spring.
Separators are new.

How do I test the alarms?

Also, can you point me to a location that I an get service manuals for the Boat & Motor?

The original throttle was replaced by a Hot Foot, this I do not like, I do not have the cold start option now, so I have to feather the gas until it warm up a bit. I am thinking of reconnection the original throttle, unless there is a fix for this, is there? The primer works, but no fast idle cold start........

Thanks for the reply....

No Newer Johnsons have a system called "system Check" The system includes a tachometer that includes I think -3 small lights. --- this is where I run out of gas - My motors are older.

Others will help!

I have those lights on the console, but not in the Tach.

Thanks for the help, maybe someone else will shed a little light on the subject.

What about this issue I was asking about.

Looking further into the "System Check".

I have a separate gauge that holds 4 lights.
No Oil, Engine Temp., Check Engine, & Low Oil.

If this is the system that you are talking about, please elaborate on the "System Check".

Thanks,
Kyp
