Hello to everyone,
My first question is I am wanting to do a link and sync on my 1983, 70 Horsepower Johnson outboard, model# J70ELCTE. my question is where and what kind of timing light do I need to buy and second I have the OMC service manual and want to know how difficult it is to do? I was reading that you have to line the lower first line of the throttle cam up in line with the throttle pick up roller and that is the point where the butterflies/throttle valves on the carb open up. Now for me right now my roller has about a 1/16" gap and is in between the to marks at idle/neutral position. So I am thinking that I need to turn the throttle cam that has the to lines on it in toward the white colored timing lever and then readjust my throttle carb roller to have about 1/16" gap. Does that sound right to you. Reason I ask is that is what I interpreted from the OMC service manual. Let me know your opinions. Thanks again, Bob
