Grady-White Express 305/Marlin 300 vs. Pursuit OS 315 vs. Robalo 305 Walkaround

Hello everyone,

I have been looking into buying my first offshore fishing boat for a few years now...mostly by attending annual boats shows and talking to dealers. I finally decided on the boat size that I wish to buy and now would like some input regarding 3 of the boat manufacturers that I have been impressed with. I have decided on a ~30foot length boat with ~10foot beam and either express or walkaround cabin. I have admired boats in this size range made by Grady-White (Express 305 & Marlin 300), Pursuit (OS 315), and Robalo (305 Walkaround). I would appreciate any advice or input regarding experiences with these models or those made by of other such as Century 2900 Express or Boston Whaler 305 Conquest. Also, opinions and information regarding the build quality when comparing these manufacturers would be very appreciated! Really, any comments are welcome! Thanks

IMO you can't go wrong with any of the three you mentioned. Far better than the Century, and a little (very little) better than the whaler.

If it were me, I'd go with the Pursuit. But that's just a personal preference. I'd be just as happy with the other two mfg.'s.

If I could afford such a boat I would go with the Grady-White (Express 305 & Marlin 300). I had a friend w/a 30 ft Whaler w/twin diesels, (he passed away this past year) and it is for sale. After riding on it and such, personally I would not own the boat because of a bunch of the features and handling characteristics of the boat. Never been on a 30 Prusuit but they do have a the reputation for making a fine boat.

Anyone else have any general experience with Century & Robalo Boats? Any other knowledge about build quality differences between Grady-White, Pursuit, Robalo, and Century Boats would be appreciated. Thanks
