mercury 25 HP problem

I have a 2001 Mercury 25 HP. I have had it for 3 years without a problem running it through some of the toughest conditions. recently I began to have a problem. It starts up fine. It will go in reverse and forward normal. It just wont let me go full throttle. When it first started, I could only go about 1/2 throttle. the engine would still rev. up to full throttle but the prop would no longer push the boat until i let off the throttle completely. I decided to change the gear lube that day. Then, slowly the next day, I was goin about half throttle and I slowly lost what power I did have behind it. Almost like it is slipping. It will still start fine and go in forward or reverse, but any gas at all will cause it to slip and make a scretching sound down by the prop. Any clue as to what could be the problem.

Prop hub is slipping, either a new prop, or have that one repaired.
