I have a 92 Johnson 40, my trim tilt switch on the throttle does not work. The switch on the side of the engine does work. Does this automatically mean that the switch on the throttle is bad? Also, I have the Seloc manual but I still can't figure out how to remove the Handle cover to get to the switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If it's a standard side mount control, the hex head screw in the center has to be loosened three turns and then driven towards the handle with the control supported so that the handle is hanging loose. Control arm should be in the neutral position. Once the screw moves, remove it and the handle should fall free.

Use a punch in the center of the screw.

Don't most of the sidemounts have a wire set that comes out of the bottom of the lever and ends in a connector? It might be worthwhile to check the switch continuity via the connector to make sure the switch is truly bad.

Removed the center screw then by accident pulled up on the neutral lever and it fell off,the rest was pretty easy. The switch was not bad just had a broken plastic mounting bracket,I rigged it so when you use it it wont move.Everything is easier if you know how to do it.LOL
