Hi,

I just got my first aluminum boat and I wanted to join here
to get an idea of how to fix it up.
I got this boat for $90 dollars.
Thats the cost for new wheels and tires for the trailer so
I could get it home. I would like to make it look and perform
like it did when it was new. I like to take pictures so I will
start with a couple to see what you think. I just got it yesterday
and have not done anything yet so here we go.
Any info will certainly be appreciated.

We were all "new" here at one time. Welcome to the SC owners best site. You have found a bunch of folks that care about their boats and are willing to share. Looks like your SC is very sound and you will have fun making into what you want.

Re: New Guy

Hi chuchum,

Welcome to iboats, and also the starcraft club:)

I've been working on a 12' Aerocraft that is most likely pretty similar to your rig. Feel free to ask any questions that you need answered.

I love my little tin can since I can launch it anywhere(carry it in;)) and also get thru really skinny water if needed, like 3-4" draft on a light day.

Is that 12' or 14'? Also what is the hp rating? My 12' is rated for 7.5hp since it is an ultralightweight tinny(86lbs hull).

Good luck with her!

Re: New Guy

Measures 12' (actually appx 11'10" L X 40" at the stern)
and I haven't found the rating yet.
It needs to be cleaned up badly but I wont get to it this week.
It is indeed light weight and I hope it doesn't leak.
It's been sitting outside for 20 years!
Last registration sticker dated '89 when it was parked,
off the trailer, and upside down in the dirt.

Is it a good or bad idea to power spray?
Anyone know which model or name of this one?

Re: New Guy

Welcome to iboats!! Hit the dollar store and pick up some cheapy toilet bowl cleaner and a green pad..... scrup that boat down and pressure wash it. Will not hurt it at all.

Look for rivets that appear loose and re-buck them. Check the transom out .....It may be mush but can be replaced easy.

Once again welcome.... you will like it here!
