I am going to be replacing the alternator bracket in a 1998 5.7 Mercruiser with Bravo 3 outdrive. I figured while replacing the bracket I would replace the belt as well. I do not have access to the boat at this moment and was gonna order one up tonight in order to have it ready for the weekend. I believe it is a flat belt not a V. Can I pick one of these up at a big box auto store? I am about 30 minutes away from the boat and would like to avoid having to pull the belt out and then make another trip back into town to get another. Can I just go to big box auto and say I need a 1998 350 alternator belt? If not anyone have a parts number or what not?

I doubt you will find one without matching up the old one......sorry..:(

Too many variations of setups for an auto parts place to ever figure it out.

Ayuh,... You can probably get 1 from an auto parts store, if they have Marine listings...
They'll want the Serial # to look it up though...
