I am new to the outboard world, just bought a 1996 15 horse 2 stroke. It runs like a top, but all of the sudden it will just start running like crap. It seems like it is not getting fuel. Is there some kind of fuel filter? Also do not have a manuel so i don't know what to mix the fuel at i have been doing 50:1? I changed the plugs and it runs good but half way through the trip it starts spuddering and just will not throttle up. idle is good but try to give it gas and it just wants to die?

is it peeing water? if there is no water coming out it could be overheating

are you opening up the gas tank vent?

Yes it is peeing, and the motor will run great for long trips. went like 45 min then parked and fished for a couple hours and then started up and went to go back to dock and would not get up and go. just idle and sputter?

Sounds to me like you have some crude in the carburetor and it could very likely be the high speed jet. You are using 50:1 which is the correct fuel to oil mix. It is probably time to rebuild the carburetor. That is a fairly easy task. Also, it would be a good idea to get a manual especially if you plan to keep the motor for awhile. The one you have is a good one. If the carburetor rebuild does not fix the problem, you may have some electrical issue (maybe coils). Your problem is when the motor is hot and sometimes that is when an electrical problem will emerge.
