1999 150 yamaha water pump replacement

i would like to replace my water pump as it is about five years old and
i use the boat every weekend. it still pumps a good flow of water. i would appreciate if a member could give me step by step instructions. i am fairly good with tools and projects.

Yep, I just went to Google and put in: bogueinletnc.com/yamaha and it came right up. check it again. it's perfect for what you're wanting to do. I may even do my water pump by these instructions just for the fun and experience of it. Good Luck!

do a forum search on this site. I have posted step by step bolt by bolt instructions on that engine and the 95 and up v4.

Heads up if I may. On the water pumps I have replaced, there is a plastic split ring spacer/ washer on the shaft that has to be removed before you can remove the pump housing. It is covered by a stainless cup/ washer that can be a bear to remove and winds up being damages as you try to remove it from the shaft. This assy. does not come with the rebuilding kit the last time I used one. When you buy the kit, recommend that you ask the parts people for the washer and cup also. They will know what you are talking about. Save you a trip back to the store. regards FRED

and the procedure I posted goes in careful detail on removing and PROPERLY reinstalling the retainer and washer stack assy.
if the retainer is not installed properly you will post about a gear case knock at trolling speeds.

i replaced my water pump and broke the white plastic spacer under
the ss cap and also the nipple that holds the speedo tube.
but not a big deal as the parts dealership is close by.
pumping better more water now.
again, thanks for the info.
