FOND DU LAC, Wis., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The members of IAM Local
1947 in Fond du Lac, WI, have ratified a modification of their current labor
agreement that will result in job security and the movement of jobs from other
Mercury Marine locations to Fond du Lac, WI.

"We met with Mercury Marine top management and have a commitment that with
this vote, the company will stay in Fond du Lac, WI and move more work to Fond
du Lac over time," said IAM Midwest Territory Vice President Philip J. Gruber.
"Our members' vote for the company proposal, while being a very difficult
decision, clearly says they are willing to work with Mercury to secure a sound
future for themselves, the company and the community."

The IAM is among the nation's largest industrial trade unions, representing
nearly 700,000 active and retired members under more than 5,000 contracts in
aerospace, manufacturing, transportation, shipbuilding and defense-related
industries. For more information, visit www.goiam.org.

That's the same union that made a mess of Pratt & Whitney and Hamilton Standard, I'm glad they are staying..........

Hopefully leadership in the state and union take the steps to woo MERCRUISER and its 400 or so Stillwater jobs to Merc Marine's world headquarters plant in Fond Ju Lac.

As they negotiate to have their mfgering moved to China.
Yes, I'd be interested to see what MM put out that convinced the union they are staying in Fond du Lac. When I last talked to my buddy in mid-August, he felt that MM would move the mfg to either Mexico or China, probably China, regardless of union concessions. Guess we'll see.
