Johnson 9.9 2000 only running in Gear

Hi:

I just had the impeller of my Johnson 9.9 replaced. Now I am having a problem where when I start the motor, there is no Neutral. It only only goes in forward gear. No reverse either. Does anyone know what could be wrong with it?

Sounds like who ever replaced the impeller did not hook up the shift linkage. Does the shifter just flop back and forth or can you feel detents for forward and reverse?
