Need wiring diagram for a 398 832075A14 stator for a 84 50 4cyl

Finally ran out of frayed wires to splice my 398 5454 stator for my 84 50hp 4cylinder Mercury.

Now I find I can not buy an OEM 398 5454 stator but the 398 832075A14 stator adaptor kit is supposed to work.

I have a new 398 832075 stator but the enclosed instructions all describe a 3cylinder hookup.

Does anybody have a 398 832075 instructions for a 4 cylinder hookup.

Dang, my Mercury parts guys tells me 2 stroke parts are getting hard to find!

Thats the red stator kit which causes more problems than their worth. You can get a CDI #174-5454 for around $150 .

I already got a red stator kit so it is tempting to use.

CDI makes good stuff so I might well go that way.

Doesn't that stator have a inline voltage regulator. If it does, you wire it to the switch box just like 3 cyl. If it doesn't and you have a red and red/white wire then you wire it like a 4 cyl. The switch box has the wire color code stamped into it next to each terminal, it's hard to wire it wrong. The two yellow wires still go to your battery voltage rectifier/regulator as always.

Ok lets see, my 84 4 cylinder 50 has the 5454 stator with a blue, blue white, red and red white (4 wires) to the 5772 switchbox and the two yellow wires to the rectifier.

The red stator kit has the two yellow wires that go to the rectifier (understand that), green white and white green wires (2) out of the stator plus a cigar shaped piece with a green white, white green, and black (ground?) plus a blue wire in or out.

My Mercury parts guy tells me the 5454 is NLA plus this supposedly replacement stator kit for the 5454 is NLA too. So off to aftermarket, Rapair is probably better anyway.

But it would be good to know how to hook the red stator kit up for a 4 cylinder going to the 5772 switchbox as I might could use this stator.

Yep, you have the inline voltage regulator. You red stator will wire up just like a three cylinder. You won't use red, red/white pole on the switch box. Good move going aftermarket. I like CDI's. Mallory isn't bad but I've been told to stay away from the Sierra's.
