Hey I Have A 1989 Omc 255 Sundowner The Shifting Cable Slips Off The Shifting Gear Inside The Outboard , I Think Its Because The Gears Need Lube Or There Getting Rusted How Do I Take Every Thing Apart And Lube It Or Clean Or Rebuild It Any Ideas?

Buy a service manual, are you sure the cable is slipping off the gear or is that just a guess?

Im Sure Its Slipping It Sliped Off Before And I Romoved The Outdrive And Put It Back In Place ,,,, But Because The Gears Are So Hard To Move In And Out Of Gear The Cable Slips Of The Shifter Insde The Outdrive..... Do You Think Gointo The Lower Drive And Clean/oiling Might Fix The Problem The Person That Had It Before Me Really Ddnt Take Care Of The Boat At All Wat You Think

welcome to iboats. lots of great people and info on here. please use punctuation, its alot easier to read after hours of being on here lol. also, this should probably be moved to the omc I/O section, there are alot of threads and people in there than can answer the more direct questions.
