OEM or After Market??

Who has an opinion about this troublesome impeller replacement issue. I can buy the OEM for my motor, but the parts guy wants me to buy the whole kit for $120. I can also find a Mallory or a Siera replacement impeller and spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 - $50 bucks, but am I getting the best water pump impeller if I go that way??

Who's got an opinion or an experience that bears on this?

What motor do you have that the whole pump has to be replaced? OK, I'm quick to say that is true on some models. There is nothing wrong with the Sierra or Mallory. I prefer Mallory, but that's just a personal thing.

In cases where the whole pump has to be replaced it is due to redesign, usually to a plastic and stainless steel housing. That is a better design, but if you stay with the old one, it is as good as it ever was.
