I have a 1974 Crestline with a 165HP Mercruiser. I moved and havent run the engine for about four years. The last time I ran it, everything was fine. I took the plugs out and sprayed some PB Blaster in before trying to start it. I let it set about 2 hours but cant get it to turn over. Any ideas on getting it going or is it shot?
I also broke one plug, does anyone know what plug that takes. I'm at work and will pick one up on my way home.

Thanks

You might try using a breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt to break it loose.

 I'd spray more of in there and let it sit for at least a couple days. You may end up with a scored cylinder or some broken rings. Be patient.

Crankshaft bolt isn't very big. You could end up breaking it off. Pull the drive as you are not sure what has locked up. It's probably the motor, but with the drive off, pull the starter and put a crow bar or something on the ring gear and try to turn it. As mentioned, soak the 'ell out of it for a couple of days first.

I'd probably go so far as filling the cylinders with penetrating lube, or even kerosene. The crankcase also might not hurt to get a good soaking, but the problem likely lies with the cylinders. I would definitely pull the distributor and prime the oil system with a drill before trying to crank the engine over, or you may damage the bearings from lack of lubrication. Also, once you get it spinning over, spin it over with no spark plugs in it to allow things to get moving with the least amount of load on it possible. Change the oil before running it, the penetrating oil will leak past the rings and the oil will be thinned out as a result.

The 165 has no crank bolt, you need to put pb blaster or kroil down there and let it sit, then put some more pb blaster or kroil down and let it sit some more.
Then try to work it back and forth, if its a light stick you might get it loose, but if water got down the carb, shes done for.
Even a light stick if a ring breaks, she'll be done for sooner than later, good lucks.

Good News. I put a new battery in and it's turning over now. Seems a little slow but it is moving. I got new plugs and will try to get it started tonight. Anything else I should look for?

very good news, I am glad to hear you have it cranking. I had to take my head off and put pressure on the ring gear while I had a friend pounding on a 2x4 on the pistons to get mine broke loose. Now everything is running great tho. I thought for sure something would be messed up.
