I bought a motorguide t30 trolling motor at a yard sale. It works great, however it's missing parts needed to "lock" the tilt. As it is, it flops back and forth freely.

I'm having trouble figuring out what it needs and how it's supposed to "lock" the tilt into place. I know for sure it's missing some sort of bolt that slides vertically from the top of the mounting unit. I would like to rig something together, but first I need to understand how it was supposed to work orginally.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Re: Motorguide PowerPlus T30

Answering my own question.

I called Motorguide, which is a division of Mercury. They emailed me the parts diagram with part numbers for the mounting bracket. They also told me the name of a vendor that sells Motorguide parts. From the diagram I was able to determine the parts I need and place an order. I'll update the thread once I receive them, hook them up and test them.

I notice there was a similar thread from three years ago, so it appears this is not an unusual problem for this trolling motor, and hopefully the information I provide will help other people who own it.

Follow up:

The motorguide people gave me the name of a local marine shop that sells parts for their motors, and from them I was able to order the parts I needed for a minimal cost. I installed them, tested them out and it works fine.

So for anyone else who might run into this, what you do is: call Motoroguide, tell them the make/model of your trolling motor, they'll email you a parts diagram, ask them for the phone number of a local shop where you can order the parts. Call up that shop, give them the part numbers and you're good to go.

Re: Motorguide PowerPlus T30

I bought and use motorguide T30 and when I put the motor in the water the propeller is at front, how I can switch or turn it to the rear.
Thanks
