I'm assembling a 1992 60hp Johnson powerhead today and came to a stopping point on the head gasket. Manual says to use Johnson gasket adhesive, a johnson mech told me I shouldn't need any. I bought a Pro Marine gasket set. The head gasket looks like it's coated on one side, and paper on the other. Any advice? If I do need to use an adhesive is there somthing eqivilant I can pick up at NAPA?

Re: Head Gasket Adhesive?

I pulled the gasket out of the package and it's shiney on both sides. Last time I installed one of these I thik the johnson dealer sold me a can of Quicksliver perfect gasket cement.
