Re: Carb rebuild kit

You have to know if you have bottom jets or side jets. One way of telling is to look at the plug under the float bowl. If it has numbers stamped in it like 74 or 76 etc, it is a bottom jet carb. If there are no numbers, it is a side jet.

ok, do you mean the bolt that holds the bowl on? there are no numbers that I can see on the head of the bolt or the outside of the float bowl that I can see.

Re: Carb rebuild kit

Then you probably have the side jet type carb. Look for the side jet rebuild kit at www.crowleymarine.com. Don't get the kit that has the floats in it, they rarely go bad unless they are the composite types.

Re: Carb rebuild kit

Ok searched and got the diagram same as Boats.net - is it FK10125 REPAIR KIT??? Nothing that i see specific to side jet carb rebuild kit and is this the whole kit? Other words will it include all the gaskets, etc. that I'll need?
Thanks again.

Re: Carb rebuild kit

So I took the first carb apart and the main jet has 074 on it. There is also another jet on the side of the carb body (on the outside) that has an 058 on it. Anyone know what this is all about?

Re: Carb rebuild kit

The 074 jet is your maine fuel jet. The 058 jet is the air jet for the main fuel jet. Air is metered with the metered fuel to give the proper mixture for combustion.

The kit will contain a needle valve, needle valve seat, seat retainer, bowl gasket, bowl bolt gaskets, some screws for the plates, some blind plugs and a welch plug.

You only need to use the gaskets, needle valve, valve seat and the retainer if you lose the original.

The other kit contains the same thing but also a float.
