Hello all,

I recently purchased a 1990 23' Chris Craft Sea Hawk with a 5.8 OMC engine. The first few times I took it out, it ran fine without any issues at all, then yesterday, I was out cruising at about 30-35 mph and the engine just cut out, and stalled. I thought maybe a hit a log or something and I checked the outdrive and it was good. So i turned the key and it fired right back up and nothing sounded out of the ordinary. It ran without issues for the rest of the day, and on the way back to the dock it cut out again. And again, it fired right back up. Any ideas as to what can be causing this? This boat was a big investment for me, and this issue is worrying me.

If it cuts out while under way there are three things I know that will do that.

Fuel starvation,
Loss of Spark,
Over heating.

I'd check the fuel filter and the pickup screen on the fuel tank. Also check for moisture under the distributor cap. What temps does the engine show while underway?
