I wouldn't worry too much for the time being about the water. It can take mine up to about a minuite to get water comming out of the engine. Congrats!

Hi,

Only a mist will come out of the idle relief hole in the back of the engine.
The tell tale hole is in the bottom of the lower cowl. I am sorry I can not remember which side it comes out on. However you will be able to see it under there. You should be able to see the stains around it. Use the trimmer string method of trying to unplug it. I won't be going out to my engine shed for sometime other wise I'd take a picture of it for you. Milehigh is right about it not showing a stream for a bit.

it is a tiny hole on the bottom right side of the upper cowl.

It's not a large stream of water and it doesn't start for a minute or two (at least on my 68 500 thunderbolt)

i dont believe my motor has a tele tale. now theres a screw right above the exhaust plate i probably could add one

i was thinking the worse because something might be wrong having to flush water pipes of motor. clogged ports. water jacket clogged and stuff r these thing commmon i didnt run motor before i replaced impeller and i believe its like a fresh water motor

Re: i did it!! its alive w00t

Hi,

I have seem several problems with them. Mostly dirt or old dried up grease causing the plunger to stick. Also the plunger wire gets bent so it can not pull straight. If you have 12V at the choke wire connection then see if you have continuity in the choke sol. It is an electromagnet. They were pretty tough an did not fail very often. If they were overheated the nylon sleeve would expand and cause the plunger to stick. Then you could try a drill bit to open the hole up to allow the plunger to travel up into the sol. Do this by hand so you do not tear it up with to much power. Not a job for Tim the Tool Man. You would only be removing a couple of thousandths.

my plunger goes in there really googd. umm i dont think it was ever used. i believe the salenoid is ok condition workable.

i think something is wrong with my connectiion or the switch in the control box.

its weired cause i dont think theres anyways to take my wire off the salenoid. unless i cut it or take the wire off my salenoid

Hi

Some of them have inline knife connectors covered with heat shrink or the wire went to a nylon terminal block before going into the plugin. You may be right on the choke button. The black button top mounted ones can be taken apart and cleaned. The one mounted in the side of the control box (depending on which box you have) can not be cleaned. They are hard to find these days.

ya i mean i get nothing when i press the button i guess ill check he voltage to the salenoid hopelly i wont have to take the control box apart cause i hear the insulation in the box even though its been away from the weather was really bad.

i have the button where its mounted on the top of the control box. whats he nylon terminl block before going to the plugin? is that to the choke salenoid?
whats hard to find these days? top mounted of side monted choke button boxes?

Hi,

Your choke button is cleanable. It is just a copper cup that shorts across two
copper points under the black cap. Don't worry about the hard to find choke button, you don't have that one. Trace the choke wire back from the choke sol until you find a junction, if there is one. If you have a stud on the sol disconnect the wire from it and do a voltage test on the wire. It should be the same as your battery voltage.
