98 gsx limited does not have full power

I have a 98 gsx limited that will start and idle but as soon as I try to go faster it will only get up to about 3500 rpm with an occasional spike up to about 4260 rpm and surged. The fastest it would go was 35 mph.

Perhaps the carb is due in for a rebuild?

both carbs need to be rebuilt most likely,, also you may try to bypass the fuel selector switch and go directly to the fuel reserve pickup on the tank,, the switches get old and restrict fuel flow .

Jeff, I know this is common problem with Seadoo, maybe others. I have a 96 GSX, and it will only run on reserve. Is there any way to clean the petcock/switch, and getting working correctly, or does it normally require replacement?

just bypass it or replace it when they go bad they go bad sometimes they allow air to leak in and that will kill top end real fast
