ok, i recently replaced the exhaust plate and cover gaskets on my motor.i called the local boat shop and ordered the gaskets for my motor.after installing them i was looking on the web and noticed that my motor called for 2 of the same gaskets,which the ones i put on my motor where both different.
after looking on the shop2evenrude site,the 1 gasket i got is for a 1995 bubble back.which is #46 on thread below.

my motor is a 1987 88 spl and requires gasket shown here #46 again

both gaskets have the same part#-317914.why do they have same part# but look totally different?motor don't even sound right and i went from getting 4700-4800 rpm to only 4200?I'm not running it again till i figure the gasket problem out.Do I have to specify bubble/flat back when ordering?
