grumbling noise

I have a grumbling noise from the back of the boat.
I thought it was the gimbal bearing but I replaced it and i stil get the noise. Any help on what else it could be? I checked the universal joints and they felt ok. well i didnt feel anything bad.

yeh it felt smooth.
I replaced the universal bearings (holy crap they were expensive compared to my car) And it took care of almost all of it. I really didnt think they were bad when i felt them the first time. Now i just here a little bit when i let off of the gas. Also have a small backfire out of the carb just comes out of no where. Any thoughts? Maybe bad gas ? boat hasnt ran since last season. I changed plugs and wires last weekend.

Ayuh,... Or dirty fuel filters...

add fresh gas and change the fuel filters, probably will fix the popping.

Curious, did you pull the input shaft to do the U joints,
Have you checked the drive oil

BT DOCTU: I pulled the outdrive off to change the gimal bearing and then pulled it again to change the two driveshaft u-joints. Its a very slight vibration now when going from high to low rpm's.

Bond-o and gadget73: The fuel filter is clear and doesnt look clogged but i guess it could be? I will add fresh gas and filter tomarrow. Its just one or two poppings from the carb here and there. Not a steady popping noise btw.

Uh-Oh, Another GLASS FILTER in a boat.Seems we have another
"Darwin Candidate"
Did you remove the shaft or just change the joionts, and did you check the drive oil?

No i didnt remove the shaft from the outdrive. And is the glass filter a bad thing?
