1953 Johnson 10hp Seahorse won't run...need help!

I'm trying to figure out what is going on with my kicker motor. At one point it would fire up, but when you would throttle up the motor seemed like it was dogging out and not getting enough spark. So I took off the flywheel and saw the coils were cracked and replaced those along with the points and condensers. After re-assembling all of that I did a spark test and there is spark, it just won't fire. If someone could help me out that would be great!!

What did you do your spark test with? If it will jump a 1/4" gap with a nice blue pop, I would say that your spark plug wires might be crossed. Just having some spark is not necessarily good enough. If your spark will jump a good gap, try squirting some fuel in the carb throat. Also, is your primer button on that carb. working? You should be able to see it squirting fuel mix into the carb if you look in the throat while you push it. If you have good spark, the timing of the spark is right, and the primer is working, then that motor will start if it has decent compression. It may not stay running until the carb. is clean and adjusted, but it will start. I really like my QD-14! Here's a pic of mine........not original color, but I like it anyway.

I'd double check that the points are clean and set properly. I find 3 primes and 1-2 pulls gets mine running. Of course, this spring I had to give it 3 pulls and two separate primes of 3. Maybe I should have started with 5.
