This might differ by state but what if we have a 25 hp on our boat and we want to troll with our Minn Kota on a 10 hp max lake.

Is it OK to troll as long as the 25 is out of the water?

Thx

Not sure about NY, but here in VA we have some electric only lakes. Most people leave their gas motors mounted but only use the electric with no problems. Maybe whoever manages the lake has a website or information hotline you could call.

Good luck - BOB

Thx for the replies. Ya, I was going to call the fish and game dept for the lakes we planned to troll on.

But I just figured I'd ask and see if anyone ever got stopped even though their motor was in the air. I suppose one could pull the prop off.

But they must have some type of rules! Electrics are cleaner than gas driven!

most of our lakes here in Ohio require the big motor trimmed out of the water, or the prop removed.

I see it done all the time out west. Alot of people use bass boats on the smaller lakes and they really cant expect you remove the motor. Like previous poster said has to be out of the water or prop removed. I would think that removing the prop would be the best way to convince a game cop that it is inoperable.

I was just going to say that I don't think you'll have a problem. But then you posted the above which I think is a great idea and should ensure you have no problems.
