1994 Nissan Maxima. The a/c compressor is locked. Had to bypass the a/c pulley to keep it from burning the belt. That was back in fall so we did need it. Now the girlfriend is screaming because of the heat... So I am going to Pull-a-part to try to get that compressor. They have an inventory of vehicles but not the parts so I have no idea if those vehicles matching mine do have the compressor. Can anyone tell me from what year until what year will the a/c compressor be the same as in my 1994? I'm pretty sure that compressor did not change much but I better be 100 percent sure...
Thanks!!!

Nandy, check the site below. I've ordered from them on several occasions and am really happy with their service. Parts are cheap too.

I found a couple here: http://www.autoguide.net

This one fits 89-95. And this one fits 96-98.

So based on that, I'd say if you pull one from a 89-95 you're good. You might want to google up a few more part searches and see if they jive with my findings.

Googling for "maxima forum" might also yield some good resources if you don't get the answer you need here.

Thanks i386!!! I used ehenry site and it is very close to what you say. In there it shows that 89 to 94 are compatible. I will check how much one of those guys in the parking lot charges. I might just pay then to get it out... I will have enough putting in back. The to find an AC place that will vacuum and fill my system without breaking the bank. I wonder if they will want me to take the car before I take the compressor out to suck the freon out of it or if that is not what they do....

Any auto wrecker including pick your part will have the list of compatible years and model of cars that use the same compressor. I would make sure the compressor you get is off a system that is sealed though as one that is open may be in terrible shape. Don't worry about the freon as I always get told they have to put all new stuff in anyway and charge me the full total.

Man you lost me a bit, care to try again? Are you talking about a kit that will allow me to restore my system to working condition after replacing my compressor? Do vacuum? I have everything else I think... Please a bit of explanation..

The kit does not evacuate the system it only refills and dries it out...I assume your system is empty if not it will be when you take off the compressor ...beware of freon escaping when you disconnect the compressor hoses...if theres any left it could freeze exposed skin real fast

Here's a year list from rockauto.com where I buy a lot of my auto parts. They have good prices and quick shipping. I don't know what Pull-A-Part is going to charge for the part, but you can get a re manufactured unit for $162 plus shipping.

Here's a code for a 5% discount. Put the code in the How Did You Hear about Us box and hit the apply button to receive the discount. It expires 1 August 2009

The kid, Pull a part prices are ridiculous. The compressor is $15 or $17 + like $5 in order for them to warrantee it. However, that price you found there is about half the price of what I have found so it will be an alternative...
Thanks!
