Hello All,

I was just enlightened that my state, Delaware gives a rebate of 23 cents for every gallon of gas I purchase for my boat. Does your state do the same? If so, how much per gallon do you get? Here is the link to Delaware's Fuel Tax Rebate program http://www.deldot.gov/mfta/gasoline_refund_program.shtml.

I've purchased 35 gallons so far this season, that means a rebate of $8.05 per tank full......

Missouri - 17 cents. Many marinas will keep track of your purchases if a regular.

Does anyone know if there is a list of states that do this? I live in pa and just did a google search but couldn't come up with anything.

I also do a lot of boating in Maryland and purchase gas there too. I wonder if this would have any effect either.

If anyone know, I would greatly appreciate it the info. Thanks!

You are getting a rebate for the highway tax, because you are not using it for on-highway travel.

You can do the same for you lawnmower, generator, tractors etc....

Thanks for this information. I had no idea.

Can this be submitted at anytime or is it an end of the year thing only?

It can be submitted at anytime but receipts must be for purchases made less than 12 months from date the form and receipts are received by the state.

I dont think PA is one of those states. I worked at a gas station in a marina for a few years and this was the first time i heard of this type of rebate. I wish it weren't so...

Re: Fuel Tax Rebate

You are right, marina's do this and man does it upset me. Why? Because they could just as easily never charge the tax in the first place and not play on the fact most won't bother with the paperwork. As an example, I live in "farm country" and most of the gas stations have regular pumps for autos and trucks, but also have a seperate island for farm equipment where the tax is never charged. (The fuel is dyed so you can't put it in your road vehicles. The dye doesn't harm a thing but sure turns your fuel filters color.)

Yep, by the time I'm dealing with the taxes come the new year, I always forget to do it. That or either don't fiddle with it as it comes under $20 and say to heck with it.

Perhaps with the new toon, we should be going out more and it might make some sense. The cruiser and go-fast crowds do get the rebates 'cause for them the rebate is in the hundreds of dollars.

Maryland give money back... I just coughed up my coffee! ;)

What a great find for boaters who boat in those states, good thread.

Did it for years when I lived in VA & NC, use to tell every boater I could but stopped, people always told me it wasn't worth the time. Glad to see that boaters here know the value of a buck.

Looks like WI isn't on that list...

It's a great idea!

Michigan has a refund but it does not apply to personal boats, etc.

I was excited until I saw this note on the "form"

"Personal Watercraft (boats and jet skis), snowmobiles, ATVs and ORVs do not qualify for this refund."

Oh well.

Re: Fuel Tax Rebate

Once again, this website has saved me money. Just pulled my reciepts for the last 12 months. Will be getting about 30 bucks back. Not a lot, but it will buy about one fill-up for the boat (or 2 nice T-bone steaks:D:D:D)

Makes perfect sense. Sure wish I had thought of it this way before.

As much as I take the old bowrider out, it should get me a decent amount back.
