Prop nut wont get tight? 71 merc 80

when i try to tighten it, it will get snug but then when i tighten it more it just spins and gets lose like its stripped...

Ahhh - either the threads on the prop shaft or the nut are stripped. Remove the nut and look at it. It is one or the other and you'd better hope it's the nut that's stripped.

Something stripped out. Any metal shavings showing after your attempt to tighten ???

Ayuh,.... Sounds like you need a New prop nut...
