Depends. Both have to actually be Hydro-Electric and not electric clutches (1970 40hp). Furthermore, they have to have the same color electical plugs at the motor end.
And, the 1972 probably has start-in-neutral-only feature.
THe 1972, 100 hp motor looks like it has battery CD ignition, rather than the magneto CD ignition that the '72 50hp and 65hp have. If I am correct, you will have a black plug under the cowl and need a hydro-electric control box with a black plug.
The motors with magneto CD ignition systems have a yellow plug and need a control with a yellow plug.
