1972 Jonson 50 Help!!!

The overheat alarm goes off on my 72 johnson i had it in for repair and the mechanic replaced the impeller and ran a few tests for any blockages but came up clear. Can anyone tell me if this 72 johnson has a thermostat? or do you have any other ideas to check??
