How much steering friction is appropriate? Is it a personal preference or should it be set at a predetermined amount. It's impossible to get at the spring loaded bolt when the lower engine covers are installed and the steering connected. I have to adjust it now before I reassemble the covers.
I tightened it up a bit since it swung back and forth quite easily. I just don't want to over do it.

It is a personal thing. You want it to track straight if you let the wheel go, but not be too hard to turn.

Friction adjustments were phased out, not long after your motor was made, except on small kickers.

Thanks Chris, I do have some play in my steering cable and occassionally the connection to the motor comes loose and when it does I get some frightening tail wagging. I tightened up the friction screw a bit and hope it gives a more solid feel.
