Distributor Rotor Rotation?

Is there ever an instance where a rotor in the distributor turns counter clockwise? Is it an indication some thing is obviously wrong? Can't get her to fire off-
1972 350 Chevy ChrisCraft/"Broadwater" -

It could be a reverse rotation motor?

You know - this has driven crazy for 3 nites! I've primed the oil pump with the drill- clock wise- Hmmm I'm startin to think my starter is wrong?

It's not possible for a standard starter to crank in reverse, it would just spin without throwing the starter gear out to lockup with the flywheel. Maybe, it is a reverse rotation starter?

Yes wrong starter, not wrong starter hook up-

That would explain the rotor going counter clockwise?

It's a gear reduction bottom mount- this bell housing has no top mount provision- ( I have 2 or 3 of those) laying around !

Gear reduction? Don't they normally spin the wrong way with the extra gear?

Right now I'm one fickled Flounder. It's looking that way- I need to pull it guess !

Ayuh,...

With a Chevy,... Righthanded, or Lefthanded, the Distributer Always turns the Same way....
Only the Crankshaft turns Backwards....
