I have recently purchased this boat, and I am not sure what year it is. I am new when it comes to vintage AlumaCrafts so any information would be
appreciated. This boat is absolutely mint, any thoughts on a high/low price. Thanks.

Nice find!

You can get the boat year and other information from Alumacraft. The boat ID# is stamped on the top of the center transom brace. You can call Alumacraft 507-931-1050 or email from their web site.

For me, the value is what the boat means to the seller or to the buyer. My thoughts... I'd say $800 as a low price for someone who doesn't know about these boats and 2 thousand as high price for someone that does.

One wonders the history of the boat to be in that condition.

River Runner - Thanks for the info. I will try AlumaCraft today.

I bought the boat from a younger guy that used the boat only last year for fishing. He told me that he had purchased it from an older gentlemen that used the boat once a year to row into his deer stand.

Thanks again for the info.

Just want to show you a nice 1972 FD, that sold on eBay yesterday. It's still quite like yours, as these boats remained close to the original.

I watched the lucky winner get it all for $1,076.00 but had the choice of the 20hp or 9.9hp motors. The seller apparently didn't know the boat, called it as Sport Fisherman. I would've easily auto bid $2,000.00 on it and it's not to far from me, but I don't need it.

'56, Thanks... that year means a lot to me. It's when my uncle bought his new 1956 FD. I was six then and remember the best of times in that boat through the years. It's the reason I bought my new '68 FD. He wore out two outboards on the boat from use, being a river man. The boat, still looking great, is now being used by his family at their live in boat house.

I'd recommend you'd also give your '56 FD a lot of use, times out with it are priceless.

My uncle installed remote steering in his '56 FD, so here looking at a motor to go with your '56 FD. The 1956 30 hp. Johnson Javelin.

I'm also looking, it's that tinny boat illness. Although you'd be lucky to find a boat in mint condition, if you keep at it you'll find a nice one to be had. As for me, I'll see the older Alumacrafts as they'll just stand out everywhere and over time I know who has them in my area. If serious, I think a deal could happen if one would make an offer to buy. Keep looking at craigslist for your area and check all the aluminums as some are vaguely listed. Consider posting around at places or doing a want add, as I've seen adds for wanting to buy old Alumacrafts. Talk to people you know, check boat dealers, the boat yards and talk to bait shops owners. You'd be surprised about who and what they know, if you keep inquiring they'll look for you. Then there's eBay, like the '72 boat I posted above. That happened in my area and makes the third time in a year for me. Even if you see a similar boat at the ramp or on the water contacts can be made and they'd like to hear your interest.
Good luck, they're out there!
