Not a steady stream of water on my 115

I'm new to the big motor world. I just got my first bass boat and it's got a 1992 mercury 115 on it. It fires up and runs fine when I have ear muffs and a hose hooked up to it in the backyard, but they motor doesn't (for lack of a better word) pee like it should. It just kind of sprays a little out of the exhaust. I called the guy i got the boat from and asked him if that was normal. He said he asked the same question and the people at the marina told him for this type motor and for this year it was normal. He told me he had never had any problems with it running like this and it never over heated, but it still makes me real nervous to take out. Has anyone had any real experience with this and can make me feel better about it? Thanks
Ben.

It's the thermostat opening and closing, check it when the engine is up to operating temp and if should be continual

Is it supposed to squirt out of the hole? It doesn't seem to be squirting out of there at all? it seems to be squirting out of the exhaust. That's normal???

No, if there is no water coming out the telltale pull the hose off and see if it or the fittings on either end of it are plugged.

i went out and played with it yesterday. No water is coming out of what i believe is the tell tale. It's only coming out of the exhaust spots. Like i said i was told this is normal. Is that true? i'm nervous about taking it out.

No, that's not true the telltall must be plugged as I said in the last post clean it. You know the pump is working as there is water in the idle relief ports but there should still be water out the telltale.

You will have better luck flushing it out with water and you need to use the pressure to blow it out of the engine by disconnecting the hose and fitting from the engine or you will just put it back in the engine and it will come back and replug everything
