I am new to this forum i have evinrude 1994 EH30ELERM that i want to change the water pump/inpler. Is it a big job on this model?

welcome to iboats!

im not familiar with your exact model but water pumps are a simple job.

you can go to shopevinrude.com and get exploded diagrams and parts lists.

unless you are strapped for time and not for cash you should be able to do everything to your motor you need to with a manual and this site.

someone on here will tell you how/where to unhook your shift linkage then you just unbolt the lower unit and your water pump sits at the bottom of the shaft.

change it out and reverse the procedure.

I think it should be pretty straight forward. I have a '94 20 hp that I'm thinking is very similar...if not exact. The biggest problem I had was realizing how the plastic sleeve used to connect/tighten the shift linkage together. That sleeve must be removed to allow removal of the connecting nut to allow the lower unit to slide of the leg.

I fought that little part for a long time until I realized that it was split on one side from top to bottom. I just couldn't see it with my bad eyes! Just find the seam, get a small screwdriver in there, and pop it out. Do not loose it because the rebuild kit doesn't come with a replacement!

Also, do not put moly lube to the top of your drive shaft...it will be impossible to remove!

PS do put the moly lube on the upper shaft splines...just not on the very top end!

I all ready printed the diagrams and parts list. I will look on ebay for a m manual.

I found the manual on this site (iboats) but postage cost 2X+ than the manual. I live in Malta Europ. Some miles away.....!!! The manual cost is $29.71 and the total is $109. So i need some info.. how to hook of the shift rod.

Don't know if he ships intl or not, but worth asking him. I can't imagine it costing more than $20 to ship it over there, at the very MOST maybe $38 in a USPS flat rate box.

So i need some info.. how to hook off the shift rod.

There should be a plastic access screen in the lower part of the exhaust housing above the lower unit that goes all the way through the housing. Take that screen off and you'll see a rod with two nuts. Remove those nuts (with flare or line wrenches if you have them) and remove the cone shaped plastic sleeve by twisting a screwdriver in the seam. Once removed, you should have 4 or 5 bolts holding the lower unit on...after those are removed the lower unit should slide down and out!

For safety, you ought to first remove the plug wires are ensure the "kill switch" is engaged to prevent accidental starting!
